As a photographer herself, photography was really important to Lauren during her April Inn at Vint Hill wedding to James. Working with a bride who had photographed weddings herself made my job both easier (she understood about timelines and light!) and harder (mostly because that’s a bit intimidating). What does it mean, in practice, to prioritize photography? I think it’s helpful to talk about what went on behind the scenes to result in the final photos you see.
Lauren opted for a second photographer for the full eight hours of her wedding coverage. Second photographers generally photograph the groom during the getting-ready portion of the day, capture creative angles during portraits and group photos and generally can cover more details and special in-between moments during busy, emotional days.
Those busy days are managed best with a comprehensive timeline. Every couple’s timeline looks different, based on their priorities; I work with each couple to customize a schedule that suits them. For Lauren, we wanted to ensure time to capture her carefully curated details and set aside time during golden hour for beautiful, glowy couple portraits.
