Kate looked just like a princess for her Army Navy Country Club wedding in June. Prior to the ceremony and reception, she and Austin got ready in Old Town Alexandria at The Alexandrian where we did their First Look, and then we took photos at the beautiful Prince Street and along the waterfront. The hotel has balconies, which is always a bonus on wedding days, and the bride’s getting-ready space is enormous! Five stars, would recommend if you’re looking for a place to get ready in Alexandria.
Old Town is a classic place for wedding photography, so I am always happy to work there! Cobblestone streets, beautiful old trees, lovely gates and alleys. Plus, the people are friendly and tend to be patient with groups taking photos (it is a tourist destination, after all). You’ll see what I mean in the photos below; it’s just magical.
Speaking of magic, clouds literally parted for Kate and Austin’s ceremony, giving way to beautiful blue sky just in time for the “I do’s.” You can’t beat the view from the Army Navy Country Club; that is the Washington Monument peeking through the trees. Guests, of course, loved taking selfies against that backdrop.
Kate and Austin chose a band rather than a DJ, and their reception rocked! Their reception included so much dancing and laughing; as a photographer, it’s a joy capturing the sort of happiness. The ballroom is huge, so there was plenty of room for the fun.
