Ian planned a beautiful Baltimore proposal for Dawn at the Rawlings Conservatory. I can’t wait to work with these two again at their wedding in October 2024! A little rain did not dampen their happiness. Having access to the inside of the conservatory and the grounds meant the weather didn’t prevent a lovely photo session.
When a client books photography services for a surprise proposal, I include a logistics call to go over details. When a moment only happens once, everyone involved needs to know what to expect. In this case, a major race was scheduled for Baltimore that day so actually getting to the site was the most difficult hurdle.
(Update: their Elkridge Furnace Inn wedding was absolutely beautiful! I loved the bubble exit outside as the newlyweds left the church and Elkridge Furnace Inn has amazing getting-ready space and lovely grounds for portraits).
Ian did a great job preparing for his Baltimore proposal even though he was the only one who knew there would even be a photo session that day. To help in preparing for your session, I provide my clients with a style guide to help them prep. When choosing colors, I recommend selecting softer, lighter tones and more muted shades. Avoiding ultra-bright, bold colors helps bring all the attention to your faces and let the eye focus on the way you feel about each other. The camera loves shades of soft pink and muted blues, mixed with sophisticated light neutrals like heather gray, creams, leather brown and white. Softer color palettes also fit beautifully into almost all natural outdoor environments. More tips are included in the style guide I provide before all portrait session.
