Nikki and Chris got engaged in January, 2023 and (somehow!) planned a beautiful, colorful Washington DC wedding … from Chicago! Both grew up in northern Virginia and have since relocated back to their hometown, but I am still amazed Nikki planned a fairly complicated wedding (three venues!) from more than a thousand miles away.

With events at Phoenix Park Hotel (getting-ready), St. Aloysius Church (ceremony), Capitol View at 400 (reception) and two trips to Union Station for portraits (the girls before the ceremony and the entire wedding party after), it was an action-packed day. But we got Nikki the Capitol View golden hour photos she imagined! She also imagined a wedding party in a rainbow of footwear and bouquets of every color. The final effect was stunning!

Chris attended Gonzaga High School and was in a classmate’s wedding at St. Aloysius in 2022; that’s when Nikki knew she wanted to be married there when it was their time. They chose the Capitol View at 400 for their receptions because of the open-air space and view of Washington, D.C. With friends traveling in from all over the country, they wanted to showcase their (new again) home.
