Alexandria engagement sessions are really popular. For many reasons, I am very lucky to live in Alexandria, but I really appreciate is that it routinely tops lists of the best engagement session locations. Since I’m a local, I can scout new spots as I go about my days.
When Kate and Brenden decided to have their session in Old Town, I was thrilled. I knew Kate really wanted some fall color in their photos, and I knew of the perfect tree for us to stop by during their Alexandria engagement session. Lots of trees didn’t show their full colors this year, but there was this one, beautifully bright tree by the water. I think I called it the “magic tree” because it was the only one like it. We took full advantage and even threw leaves in the air for effect.
I recommend sunrise sessions for many reasons, but when we’re photographing in a place as popular as Old Town Alexandria, it’s the key to avoiding crowds. Kate and Brenden were good sports about getting up super early and it really paid off. Perfect light, we had all the best spots to ourselves, and the only people we saw were those out walking their dogs (so we got to meet some friendly pups, which always makes for a nice morning!)
I provide a style guide to all my clients. It explains how to coordinate outfits, discusses hair and makeup prep and generally preps clients so they’re coming to their photography sessions feeling confident! Kate and Brenden followed the guide to. the. letter. They dressed perfectly.
After working with them during their Alexandria engagement session, I can’t wait for Kate and Brenden’s wedding at Bluemont Vineyard next year!
