By the time we met for Erica and Marcus’s engagement session in Old Town Alexandria, they should have already celebrated their wedding. But it’s 2020, so their September 2020 wedding became a May 2021 wedding. We’re all just trying to make the best of things.

Not only did their wedding get postponed, but we also rescheduled their engagement session from October to late September because of Alexandria’s mask mandate. The mandate requires masks in all public spaces (even outdoors) beginning Oct. 1. Through it all, these two were gracious, happy and cheerful.

When they called this spring to postpone their wedding and discuss logistics, Marcus asked if they would still get to schedule an engagement session. 1) Yes, of course! and 2) I love that enthusiasm!

The silver lining of all this rescheduling? These two could not have asked for a better day for an engagement session in Old Town Alexandria. While it was the first morning to really feel like fall (hellooooo, sweater weather!), the light was magical. I also have the privilege of meeting Lincoln, the couple’s adorable, cooperative pug. Mr. Lincoln was a very good boy when it was his turn to be in photos.

The other silver lining? They scheduled brunch for after the session. Sunrise sessions require early wake-ups, so I totally encourage bribing yourself with brunch after. I usually do!

I am so, so glad that Marcus and Erica were rewarded with beautiful conditions for their session.
