In the space of just a few months, Joanna somehow planned an elegant, personal wedding at Salamander Resort & Spa in Middleburg, Virginia. She, Ben and his daughter came to Alexandria for a hybrid engagement/family session just two weeks prior to the wedding so the trio was well-prepared to completely own the camera on the big day.
Salamander Resort is a gorgeous venue in Loudoun County with a top-notch, super kind staff and stunning views everywhere you look. And (bonus!) if you want to include your furry friends in your wedding, I learned the resort is also dog-friendly, with no breed or size restrictions.
Intimate weddings, also called micro-weddings, are popular with couples this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Scaled-down events allow couples to move forward with their plans while following the guidance of health authorities and abiding by state event restrictions. But a small guest list is no reason to skimp on the beautiful flowers, delicious food and fabulous location that help make weddings special.
This particular wedding was special because of the small touches that made it clear that Joanna and Ben created a family. At the end of the ceremony, his daughter Andie joined them for an introduction as the Brown family. And scroll down to see the impromptu moment when Andie fed Joanna her first bite of wedding cake!
