Sarah told me she once drove by The Stone House (that’s literally its name) and knew that one day she wanted a Manassas Battlefield engagement session there.

I encourage couples to brainstorm unique locations that are sentimental to them. For those who don’t already have a spot, we can brainstorm a bit! Where did you meet? Where did you go on your first date? Spend a few minutes thinking about it If you need inspiration, check out my website and Pinterest. We are lucky enough to have some iconic locations in the Washington, D.C. area that serve as beautiful photo session settings, too. Just let me know what type of session you’d love (city, country, waterside, garden …) and we’ll go from there!

To make her engagement dreams come true, I met up with Sarah and Nick this April at the battlefield. First, we were lucky enough to catch the bluebells in bloom and we then finished up the session just before sunset at The Stone House.

That hour before sunset, known as golden hour, is the perfect time to schedule a photo session. That’s when we get that soft, glowing light that makes everyone look amazing. A sunrise session is another great option for best light, but not everyone wants to get up before dawn. Since it tends to be less crowded than some other popular locations, Manassas Battlefield is an ideal spot for those who aren’t early birds.

For those who want to plan for their own springtime photo dreaminess, bluebells bloom at Manassas between March and June, according to the National Park Service.
