I worked with Olivia and Luke earlier this year during their beautiful Kennedy Center engagement session so it was lovely to see them again in May for their intimate Alexandria wedding at the Athenaeum. The couple opted not to have a first look so Olivia and I had lots of time for both indoor and outdoor bridal portraits. I love a huge window for romantic portraits and this venue has some of the best!
Small guestlists allow for some wedding moments that wouldn’t be possible with a larger crowd. After their vows but before the official proclaiming of husband and wife, Olivia and Luke had their guests (even the kids!) form a circle and each share a blessing or thoughts. The tears and hugs during this portion of the day made for some lovely moments!
With more than an hour between the ceremony and a sit-down celebratory meal for all the guests, the couple and I had plenty of time for a beautiful couples session throughout Old Town Alexandria. The Athenaeum’s grounds are small but offer a lot of opportunity: columns, a hidden garden where the ceremony was held and quick access to a classic alley right next door. Old Town is one of the best places in the area for photography so it’s a joy to work with a couple happy to invest some time in making beautiful images. Scroll to see them!
