This Old Town Alexandria fall wedding featured the cutest four-legged flower girl, a groomsman pranking the groom with a fake First Look and a beautiful, classic setting at Rectory on Princess Street.

“Authentic” and “unique” are two of the most overused words in the English language these days. But honestly, I do not know how else to describe a wedding that involved a Dungeons & Dragons-inspired Unity ceremony, complete with a time capsule into which they put a horseshoe handmade by a friend. (Update: actually, according to Google, D&D unity ceremonies seem to be a THING, but in eight years of weddings, this was a first for me and I find it incredibly sweet).

Meredith and Andrew chose the best color palette for an early fall wedding, with a bit of teal, a bit of deep red and lovely greens. They lucked out, or maybe not, with warmer-than-seasonable weather and an absolutely beautiful day. I’m always nervous about outdoor ceremonies, but sometimes things just fall into place perfectly!

The fun gaming vibe continued into reception time. The Garden has some old-school arcade games that both very much looked forward to playing (and which, let’s be honest, made some really fun pictures).
