Baby Tenley Elise (yes, her initials spell TEA) comes from a photogenic family, so I expected her newborn session to be adorable. I went to graduate school with Tenley’s mom, so I have been taking pictures of Baby T’s parents for a couple of years now; Lyndsey and Yale were some of my first clients and their 5th-anniversary session is still one of my favorites, and one that new clients want to emulate! I also did their maternity session when Baby T was still a bun in the oven, so we were more than ready for Tenley’s first photoshoot!

I offer lifestyle newborn photography, which means I focus less on posing and more on natural interaction. I visit clients’ homes for newborn sessions, which offers an opportunity to get photographs of nurseries, and of family heirlooms and gifts made for the new addition. Baby Tenley had several aunts and great-aunts who made or embroidered blankets and other items, so Lyndsey and Yale wanted to capture these gifts for their family. By photographing in the nursery, I was also able to capture some of the little touches the proud papa made in anticipation of TEA’s arrival. That “Tenley Elise” sign in the family photo? Yale made that.

Yale also wanted some photographs with some of his Air Force memorabilia, since his military career is obviously an important component of their family life.

Sweet little TEA was so good and patient (and sleepy!) throughout the session, and I am so honored I got to spend time with this adorable little family as it grows!
